Drugs and Porn Performances Lead to Prison and Discharge for Soldier
FORT BRAGG, NC — The 82nd Airborne Division is the largest parachute force in the entire free world; with every single member regardless of position or title trained to fight immediately upon arrival and to do so anywhere, at any time.Unfortunately for Pfc. Wesley K. Mitten, there are times when being ever prepared and willing to embrace danger, take risks, and pursue excitement isn’t necessarily a good thing.
Such has proven to be the case when he decided to get high and appear on an adult website along with seven other soldiers from the 82nd Airborne.
Having plead guilty to sodomy, conduct detrimental to the Army, and cocaine use, the 21-year-old soldier will now serve three months in prison and then face discharge from the service upon completion of his incarceration.
“I am sorry for disgracing my family name and my unit,” Mitten said of his brief experience as a gay porn performer.
According to prosecutors, although the website’s owner in initially contacted him with an offer of $2,000 to appear in a video, Mitten took the initiative to encourage other men in his division to join him. In addition to his webcam work for the site, he appeared in a video and posed for still photos, ultimately earning $6,000 for his efforts.
Four of the other soldiers were busted down to private, forfeited a half month’s salary, were given extra work, and restricted to Fort Bragg for 45 days in punishments administered outside of he military court system. Two others also pled guilty and will serve time in prison.
