Dr. Chauntelle to Contribute to Women’s Erotica Community
BOSTON – Public sociologist and author of You Study What? Chauntelle Anne Tibbals PhD is the newest contributor to Sssh.com, an award-winning erotica site made for women by women. Tibbals’ insightful features and commentary are expected to add a new dimension to the online community, its publisher said.
“Adult content is often engaged as if it lives in a bubble — like it somehow exists independent of wider social trends, politics, news, etc.,” said Tibbals, whose extensive and continuing socio-cultural study of gender and sexuality inform her perspective. “This couldn’t be further from the truth. Like every other piece of media, adult entertainment is both a partial product of and a contributing factor in the development of society and culture. I am super-excited to contribute reviews and discussion to Erotic Scribes and the Sssh community within this context.”
Tibbals’ fields of study include gender, sexualities, work and organizations, new media and popular culture. She has spent more than 10 years researching the adult industry from within, working to demystify popular understandings of porn, its enterprise and its socio-cultural significance. Her research has been published in numerous scholarly journals including Sexualities, Gender Work & Organization, Journal of Contemporary Ethnography, and Stanford Law and Policy Review. Her ebook series You Study What? is available on Amazon.com. She has been quoted and cited extensively by cultural and news media outlets including CNN, Business Insider, Slate and the National Public Radio station KPCC.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Dr. Tibbals on board and welcome her to our family of filmmakers, authors and sex experts,” Sssh.com publisher Angie Rowntree said.
Sssh.com is the flagship of the Spice Cash affiliate program, which pays up to $25 per sale or as much as 60-percent recurring revenue share.
