Dot-xxx Panel to Headline Phoenix Forum Seminars
YNOT – The dot-xxx sponsored Top Level Domain is near the top of many adult industry professionals’ agendas right now. With that in mind, the Phoenix Forum will offer the first tradeshow panel discussion of potential ramifications since the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers approved the adult-content-specific domain.
At 1 p.m. Saturday, two seminar rooms at the forum’s headquarters hotel will merge into one large area to accommodate what is expected to be an overflow crowd. AVN Senior Editor Tom Hymes will moderate a panel consisting of Wasteland Inc. founder Colin Rowntree, attorney and Free Speech Coalition Chairman Jeffrey Douglas, CCBill founder Ron Cadwell and Pink Visual President Alison Vivas as they attempt to help attendees understand some of the issues involved.
Even though dot-xxx’s approval does not mandate any immediate change in the way the adult web works, many inside and outside the industry wonder in which direction they should plan for the future. How could dot-xxx affect content delivery methods? How could it impact SEO practices? Could the partitioning of content into different TLDs marginalize market segments? Could the split produce a clearly defined categorization of entertainment inaccessible by minors? Could dot-xxx help combat piracy and fraud? These and many other questions are expected to be addressed.
