Discplay.me, a new augmented reality app for adult content, has a vision to introduce porn consumers to a brand new concept that would make the adult metaverse more attainable. YNOT reached out to Max Furmaniak, one of Discplay.me’s co-founders and their chief product officer, to get the inside scoop on this new concept.

More than 700 million monthly users enjoy the technical innovations of augmented reality, Furmaniak explained, citing data from Meta’s Instagram and Facebook shared ecosystem. The metaverse is the future of computing and internet browsing, directly serving as the next logical step in the web’s development into a truly three-dimensional experience.

“The entire industry and especially the Metaverse and AR sectors are gaining momentum,” Furmaniak said. “We are growing rapidly and plan to introduce new features and extensions to the app that will take the experience to an even higher level.”

The concept of a metaverse is new, with the term having been sourced to science fiction literature from the early 1990s and 2000s. Think of books like Ready Player One as an example of AR in action in written fiction. A metaverse is a combination of virtual, extended, and augmented reality platforms that permit users from all over the world to access a metaphor of the real world in an augmented, 3D view of the world.

Virtual reality is becoming increasingly intertwined with gaming, as dozens of mainstream video game studios have developed editions of their top releases, like critically acclaimed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or smash hit Minecraft, for use on virtual reality-enabled operating systems. To access these worlds and their experiences, a headset like an Oculus or a Google Cardboard is required.

VR porn operates in the same way. But when it comes to adult content, there has been relatively little development on the front of augmented reality content that can be accessed without the hassle of having to use a VR device or headset. As a platform, Discplay.me intends to fill this void in the adult entertainment marketplace by offering an AR experience for content creators and users.

At the end of our discussion, Furmaniak touched a bit on the platform’s future development and how they have very lofty but exciting concepts in the works.

“Our next goal is to introduce Live AR and the possibility of interactivity between creators and users,” he said. “We do not intend to slow down the development even for a moment, because we want to provide unprecedented experiences.”
