Director Fred Salaff Found Not Guilty in Panama
PANAMA — Adult video director and political pawn Fred Salaff has sent out numerous updates about his legal situation – but he has waited more than two years to send out the email notice that arrived in computer inboxes throughout the world on June 5th: he will soon be a free man.In a brief emailed note to friends and supporters, the jailed American director announced that “the judge signed her verdict of ‘Not Guilty’ and I have been exonerated of all criminal charges. It all started January 23, 2005 and the ordeal is finally over.”
Salaff, who was initially charged with coercing prostitutes to work in his videos, not obtaining or filing proper paperwork, and not adequately protecting minors from viewing the filming of his adult productions, had seen all charges except for the last dropped, yet lingered in jail waiting his final trial.
”Now I begin the effort of trying to get back from the government all my belongings confiscated when arrested; my cameras, computers, tape library…” Salaff continues in his update. “Today also begins a new chapter in my life. It will take more than a long rest to get my life back in order.”
Although his court defense has been victorious, Salaff realized that celebration must be tempered by reality, pointing out that “My legal bills still have to be faced and paid.” Because of this, he asks that those who are able, “if any of you can help by donating please go to my website: http://www.fredsalaff.com and click on the Donate by PayPal button. Your help, as always, is very much appreciated.”
Congratulations, Fred.
