Dick Dangle Marks 300 Episodes of “Danglin’ After Dark”
For those of us who have been kicking around the adult entertainment industry a long while, reflecting on milestones can be a bit overwhelming at times. Sometimes, it doesn’t fully hit home just how long we’ve been a part of this fun, crazy, challenging industry until we pin a number on it.
For some of us, the number represents the years we’ve been in the industry. For others, it might be the number of appearances they’ve made in adult films, or the number they’ve directed. For veteran adult podcast host Dick Dangle, the milestone number is 300 – representing the astonishing 300 episodes of Danglin’ After Dark he has broadcast since first launching the show back in July, 2014.
“It’s difficult to put this moment into words,” Dangle said of reaching the 300-episode landmark. “It’s been an unbelievable journey that has led to many great friendships, lessons, and experiences that I will keep with me forever. Meeting so many amazingly gracious and talented people who are at the top of their field has been a dream come true.”
While the show took a hiatus from May 2018 to February 2019, Dangle has otherwise been cranking out shows like clockwork, along the way conducting interviews with a huge number of popular performers, successful entrepreneurs and innovative content creators.
For Dangle, a man who simply loves to interview people and plumb their thoughts for interesting and entertaining tidbits, it’s been a true labor of love by a man for whom the interviewer’s chair is very comfortable fit.
“Since beginning the podcast, one person called me ‘The Jimmy Fallon of adult podcasting’ and another said ‘You’re the most harmless pervert I know,’” Dangle said. “Few statements are more accurate.
“I truly enjoy interviewing,” Dangle added. “Whether I’ve never met the person or I’ve known them for years, I love trying to talk to them in a way that shows respect but keeps it fun and keeps the listeners engaged.”
One might think that after all these years and episodes, Dangle works on autopilot. On the contrary, the podcast host said, he’s “still learning a lot with every episode I do.”
“Whether it’s on the technical side (editing, set-up) or telling stories and interviewing, getting better makes for a better experience for the listener,” Dangle explained. “Speaking of which, I can’t thank the listeners, who I call ‘Pervert Nation’, enough for joining me this strange little trip.”
What advice does Dangle have to offer those who are interested in hosting a podcast of their own?
“It needs to be, at the very least, a passion project,” Dangle said. “And I can say that the passion I felt during the first episode, I still feel at episode 300. At the end of the day, I’m a fan of the industry, as anyone who has seen my studio (that is filled with DVD’s, autographs and memorabilia) can attest to.”
Naturally, like any other momentous milestone, Dangle didn’t reach the 300 episode mark without assistance – nor would a guy as humble and grounded as Dangle allow it to pass without giving credit where it’s due.
“Without the help of a team of great friends – The Stepfather, WebMan Greg, Champagne Dan, and Harley Marie (who came in as guest co-host in Dec 2017) – this never would’ve gotten off of the ground,” Dangle said. “I cannot thank them enough.”
