Dennis Jones Celebrates 40th Year with Eldorado
BROOMFIELD, Colo. – When one loves what he does for a living, the job hardly seems like working. That’s how Dennis Jones’s 40th anniversary with pleasure products distributor Eldorado sneaked up on him.
A Wisconsin native, Jones segued to Eldorado from jobs with a head-shop distributor and a record store. On April Fools Day 1976, Eldorado founder and Chief Executive Officer Larry Garland hired Jones on the personal recommendation of a mutual acquaintance.
“Larry and I are still trying to figure out who the joke was on,” Jones said.
After spending years on the road as a delivery driver restocking stores, Jones was offered a buyer position. Jones served as Eldorado’s one-man purchasing department until the company doubled the department’s staff in 2006.
“Dennis has been a great asset to Eldorado over all these years,” Garland said. “He has grown tremendously and has been along for the ride from paraphernalia to pleasure products—or as he likes to say, ‘We went from bongs to dongs.’ I want to congratulate Dennis on his 40-year career with the Eldorado family.”
When he’s not working, Jones enjoys hiking, playing guitar and vacationing. He and wife Carol recently jetted off to Maui to celebrate their second wedding anniversary. Jones is an active member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteers for the church and local community.
“I feel very fortunate to have spent four decades being a part of Eldorado’s growth and seeing it become one of the top distributors in the business,” Jones said. “I’m so thankful to have met all the people in the industry I consider my friends and look forward to strengthening these business relationships over the years to come.”
