Daring Sex Debuts New Modular Site Concept
YNOT – Affiliate program FameDollars is experimenting with a new approach to website design. Director of Product and Development Magalie Rheault calls the building blocks modules, but she said the technique produces anything but cookie-cutter results because the modules are custom-designed and infinitely configurable.
As evidence, she pointed to the newly re-launched DaringSex.com, the product of a collaboration between FameDollars parent Gamma Entertainment and a European studio known for its willingness to take creative risks. During the makeover, DaringSex.com lost none of its erotic or artistic appeal and gained quite a bit in user responsiveness.
In re-envisioning the website, FameDollars designers started with “blocks” they’d proven successful in other projects: a multilingual interface and user-selectable video-viewing options. From there, the designers added an abundance of the studio’s high-end, hardcore glamour content, creating additional modules to present the images in a larger format that nonetheless loads quickly.
Finally, the FameDollars gang added interactive social components along with modules that recommend scenes based on a member’s previous activity on the site and allow the collection of favorite scenes. A back-end module provides members with bonus access to other sites in the FameDollars network.
“We wanted to make sure that the videos and images are flexible and grids are fluid to make sure that it fits correctly on any desktop or laptop screens that our surfers and members choose to use,” Rheault explained. “Slowly but surely, all our sites will have a unique layout using modules we built independently to keep up with the changing times.”
She also said she believes the modular approach, because it makes sense from both sides of the user experience, will assist affiliates in promoting the sites. Customized trailers and other collateral materials not only are easier to create, but also easier to integrate into affiliate marketing plans. An example is here.
