Darcie Dolce Featured in Daily Beast Article About Adult Industry Pay
Former adult superstar Aurora Snow is now a writer for the Daily Beast and for her latest features she called on Darcie Dolce and others to discuss pay rates in the adult industry, a topic that’s always click-worthy for the industry-curious.
Of course, there is a little problem: no one wants to talk about it. Even when a former AVN Female Performer of the Year comes calling, performers are generally unwilling to speak on the record about compensation. It’s a touchy subject to be sure and going on record could well get some frosty receptions from co-workers, especially if they think you’re making more than they are for the same work.
But, of course, everyone isn’t paid the same, nor should they be. Some are better performers, some are more professional, while others are simply more in demand and can hold out for higher rates.
“2018 XBIZ Girl/Girl Performer of the Year Darcie Dolce agrees, you have to earn it,” Aurora writes. “’I put on a good scene. I come to set looking good, my skin looks good, and my nails aren’t all fucked up. I’m professional, on time, easy to work with, so I think I’m worth the money,’ says Dolce. ‘With some girls, it’s like a Louis [Vuitton] bag: you’re just paying for the name not the purse.’”
“Dolce echoes the sentiments of virtually the entire industry when she says, ‘I’m not comfortable telling you my rate. Rates are private. It’s nobody’s business—unless they’re the agent or the ones paying.’”
Of course, Aurora does get the facts, even if few will go on record. Guys are bringing in $300 to $1200, depending on the type of scene and whether they have proven themselves or not. Ladies go home $700 to $2500, though the high end is limited to bigger names doing double- and triple-penetration work. There will be exceptions for either sex at both the high and low ends, but Aurora’s math seems pretty solid and she certainly has the experience to know the basics with more than 700 credits to her name prior to writer fame.
