Daily Checklist for Newbie Site Success
Many successful business people share similar traits and habits, the obvious traits being hard-work, determination, desire, enthusiasm, and goal-setting. The list goes on and on. Ranking high among the habits that successful people share is organization. Organizing your own daily website “to-do” list can help you streamline your daily tasks and make it easier to remember all the little things you need to do that you otherwise may forget. Here are some daily tasks that you may want to add to your daily checklist.1. Answer your email promptly
This seems so obvious, but my personal experience proves that many webmasters and web girls do not answer their emails promptly. Returning emails within 24 hours is a good rule of thumb. However, if you are at the computer, then there is no reason not to return an email immediately. We get countless complimentary emails exclaiming disbelief that their email was returned so promptly. We feel we win confidence and make many long term members simply by answering their emails promptly. It makes people feel important when you answer them right away. Email correspondence is a huge attraction of amateur web girls. Make a point to answer your emails from the night before, first thing in the morning. Then answer your email through out the day as it comes in.
2. Market your site
Set aside a little time everyday to market your site. Webmasters of amateur sites often assume that they are at a disadvantage because they generally do not have a budget for buying traffic. But there are many ways to successfully market your site with out money. For my daily marketing, I build a home page with all of the links I need to market my site each day. Organization is the key. Spend some time surfing the web for new link trades. I try to spend at least an hour each day looking for good link trades.
3. Build a Page
There is a saying, “a writer writes, always.” And so, a webmaster should always build pages. Set aside a little time each day to build new pages and sites. Working on new project will keep you from getting bored and will keep you interested and enthusiastic about building pages and working on your site(s). At the very least, amateur web site webmasters should build a new gateway page each day.
4. Read the chat boards and news sites related to your market
Chat boards are a great place to network, pick up tips and ideas. News websites can a be tremendous source of information. Chat boards such as the new one at AmateurMasters.com are intended specifically for amateur web site webmasters.
5. Surf your own site
You would be surprised at the number of webmasters that don’t surf their own site(s) on a daily basis. Every time I surf one of our sites I notice something new or I find a mistake. Every webmaster makes mistakes and the only way to find them is to surf your site. Surfing your own site is a great way to generate new ideas for it as well. Amateur sites do not have to be as hip and “techy” as the mega-sites, but we can at least correct all the typos and bad links. I recommend spending about 30 – 60 minutes a day surfing your own sites.
6. Add new content
Make sure you are updating your site(s) daily with some sort of new content.
7. Take frequent breaks.
To maintain a high level of concentration you need to step away from the computer from time to time. “Cyber Time” is much faster than real time. There have been days that I sat at my desk around 8:00 am and the next time I looked at the clock it was 4:00 pm and my eyes were red and dry. Taking breaks will rejuvenate you and keep you focused.
8.Make it fun!
After all, that is why many of us chose this profession over a normal nine to five. It’s fun to be around this industry and to be involved in it. I have found a fun outlet that is still productive. By reviewing adult DVDs I have created for myself a relaxing and fun time with porn, yet I am still being productive. Perhaps you can add an amateur website review area to your site or maybe a sex advice column. Whatever you have the most fun with in the business, try to do it everyday.
These are just a few daily tasks that you can have on your checklist. Although your list may be compromised of tasks that are not mentioned in this article, the point is to make a daily checklist so that you can always stay on course for newbie site success.
