Many successful business people share similar traits and habits, the obvious traits being hard-work, determination, desire, enthusiasm, goal-setting, the list goes on and on. Ranking highly among the habits that successful people share is organization. Organizing your own daily web site “to-do” list can help you streamline your daily tasks and make it easier to remember all the little things you need to do for success in this business that you otherwise may forget. Here are some daily tasks that you may want to add to your daily checklist.
Answer your email promptly
This seems so obvious, but my personal experience proves that many webmasters and web girls do not answer their emails promptly. Returning emails within 24 hours is a good rule of thumb, however, if you are at the computer then there is no reason NOT to return an email immediately. We get countless complimentary emails exclaiming disbelief that the email was returned so promptly. We feel we win the confidence and make many long-term members simply from answering their emails promptly. This makes people feel important when you answer them right away. Email correspondence is a huge attraction of amateur web girls. Make a point of it to answer your emails from the night before, first thing in the morning. Then answer your email throughout the day as they come in.
Market your site
Set aside a little time everyday to market your site. Webmasters of amateur sites often assume that they are at a disadvantage because they generally do not have a budget for buying traffic. But there are many ways to successfully market your site without money. For my daily marketing I build a home page with all of the links I need to market my site each day. Organization is the key. Spend some time surfing the web for new link trades. I try to spend at least an hour each day looking for good link trades.
Build, Build, Build
There is a saying, “a writer writes, always.” And so, a webmaster should build, always. Set aside a little time each day to build new pages and sites. Working on new projects will keep you from getting bored and will keep you interested and enthusiastic about building pages and working on your site(s). At the very least, amateur web site webmasters should build a new gateway page each day.
Read the chat boards and news sites related to your market
Chat boards are a great place to network, pick up tips and ideas. News websites can be tremendous sources of information. (Chat boards such as the new one at AmateurMasters.com are intended specifically for amateur web site webmasters.)
Surf your own site
You would be surprised at the number of webmasters that don’t surf their own site(s) on a daily basis. Every time I surf one of our sites I notice something new or I find a mistake. Every webmaster makes mistakes and the only way to find them is to surf your site. Surfing your own site is a great way to generate new ideas for it as well. Amateur sites do not have to be as hip and “techy” as the mega-sites, but we can at least correct all the typos and bad links. I recommend spending about 30 to 60 minutes a day surfing your own sites.
Add new content
If at all possible, update your pay site(s) daily. Using a Picture of the Day script that will rotate a new photo every 24 hours is an easy way to add new content to your site daily. Also try to add a new photo or video set no less than every three days. Web girls can also keep a weekly diary or if she is really motivated, a daily diary. Anything that will add new content and keep your members interested.
Take frequent breaks
To maintain a high level of concentration you need to step away from the computer from time to time. “Cyber Time” is much faster than real time. There have been days that I sat at my desk around 8 A.M. and the next time I look at the clock it’s 4 P.M. and my eyes were red and dry. Taking breaks will rejuvenate you and keep you focused.
Shoots, shoots, shoots
There is no such thing as “enough” content. Make it a point to at least shoot a few photos each day. At the very least you can start a Picture of the Day folder and store random shots in it for uploading to your Picture of the Day page. If you are not shooting then you should be setting up shoots. Content is key and you can never have enough.
Have fun!
After all, that is why many of us chose this profession over a normal nine to five. It’s fun to be around this industry and to be involved in it. I have found a fun outlet that is still productive. By reviewing adult DVDs, I have created for myself a relaxing and fun time with porn, yet I can still be productive. Perhaps you can add an amateur website review area to your site or maybe a sex advice column. (Editor’s note: This is an excellent idea because educational text on a site can help prevent an obscenity prosecution.) Whatever you have the most fun with in the business, try to do it everyday.
These are just a few daily tasks that you can have on your checklist. Although your list may be compromised of tasks that are not mentioned in this article, the point is to make a daily checklist so that you can always stay on course for amateur pay site success.
