‘Cosmo’ Offers Mobile ‘Kama Sutra’ App
YNOT – Cosmopolitan magazine this week released a mobile app that instructs curious Android phone users in the finer points of sexual positions. Called “Cosmo’s Sex Position of the Day,” the app is available in Google’s Android app store.Oddly, the very same app has been available in Apple’s notoriously “clean” iTunes store since December. The app has been downloaded for iPhones 80,000 times, according to its page at the site, which may go a certain distance toward explaining why a recent survey by dating site OKCupid.com suggested iPhone owners have more sex than BlackBerry or Android users. (Android users came in a distant third, admitting to only about half the nooky enjoyed by iPhone users.)
According to Cosmo, users spend an average of 10 minutes daily with the app, which retails for about $3 at both e-tailers and is based on the magazine’s best-selling book, The Cosmo Kama Sutra. In addition to presenting a cartoon-like illustration of the sexual position, each entry also provides a “Carnal Challenge Rating” for difficulty and hints for making the most of one’s newly acquired knowledge.
For the record, Cosmo describes the app at “tasteful.”
