Content Protection Retreat 2 Deadline Looms
YNOT – Pink Visual’s second Content Protection Retreat will take place Feb. 6-7 at the Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles. Although participant slots remain to be claimed, special pricing for hotel guest rooms expires Jan. 16.
The event, co-sponsored by adult industry trade association Free Speech Coalition will host 50 studio representatives on-site, and a virtual component will allow participation by an additional 20 studios via videoconference. Whether attending in person or via videoconference, a registration fee is required to cover costs.
As with the inaugural CPR, media will not be allowed to cover the event and all attendees will be screened to ensure there are no conflicts of interest, according to Pink Visual President Allison Vivas.
“We’re looking forward to another high-quality gathering from which everyone in attendance can learn, collaborate and emerge with an improved anti-piracy strategy,” Vivas said. “We want to maintain the momentum built up at the first CPR event and welcome new studios to the effort.”
The retreat will follow a similar agenda to that presented in October during the first CPR. Intellectual property experts are expected to address preventing piracy and pursuing pirates, but the plans for CPR2 also include “stepping it up a notch,” Vivas said.
“Since much of the foundation was already set at the first CPR event, we plan to be able to provide more tools and resources for studios to walk away with,” she noted. “Unlike the previous event, we are also encouraging industry attorneys who are interested in anti-piracy efforts to attend and participate in private, attorney-only discussions as a way to introduce more resources and options to studios.”
Vivas added that multimedia content protection company Degban is sponsoring the attendance of several of its clients in order to highlight its role as an “industry ambassador.”
“We believe it’s paramount to the entire industry to raise awareness about the epidemic of piracy, and one of the best ways is to help support different studios in attending the Content Protection Retreat, or at least to make them aware of the event,” said Degban Senior Business Development Director Ella Black.
