Content Producers: Own Your Own Roku Channel
NEW YORK – In 2013, about 28 Roku Adult channels streamed to thousands of customers. By Spring 2016, nearly 50 channels reached hundreds of thousands of viewers.
Now, almost any adult content producer can grab a piece of the action with a Roku Adult channel dedicated to only their material.
“More and more adult entertainment companies are harnessing the power of Roku by building private channels that offer paid subscriptions to stream web content to HDTV,” said Roku Adult developer Frank Flasch.
According to Flasch, producers have control over most of their dedicated channels’ features. Subscriptions may be set to run for a three-day trial or billed by the month or multiple months with a recurring mechanism built right in. Price points, too, are flexible.
Dedicated categories for each genre make it possible to tailor a studio’s platform’s content so users can find all of their media in one place.
“We curate the most complete list of adult channels where we post the latest trends and updates of producers’ channels,” Flasch said.
He also pointed out that while most households have a television, not all can afford computers. Roku Adult is an affordable entertainment option for those not connected to the internet, Flasch said. In addition, “cord-cutters” who are getting rid of cable subscriptions need new content. Both of those verticals give studios opportunities to gain new fans.
Roku Adult’s Hotel Connect and Dorm Connect allow travelers and students to watch adult content in places where the material otherwise might not be available. The service even works outside the U.S.
