Content Platform Intros 360 Video VR Software
LOS ANGELES – Content-management platform ClickcastX has integrated 360 Virtual Reality Video, allowing clients to upload full 4K and high-definition 360 videos and format them into VR experiences ready for delivery right to a consumer’s desktop or laptop device.
“This is really the future of video production and publishing,” said Chief Executive Officer Claude Lai. “Although it is still in the early phases, VR will become, in one form or another, how all videos will be produced and distributed.”
Lai said ClickCastX’s software “downsizes” clients’ 360 videos from large 4K files to HD streamable videos.
“Although the quality is not as good as 4k for streaming, it is acceptable for most uses,” he said.
Using a pay-per-download model, consumers may acquire any 4K 360 VR videos in the system.
“The files usually range about one to two gigs in size for a 10- to 15-minute clip,” Lai noted.
The company also has introduced mobile apps for use with Samsung’s Gear VR headset and Google’s Cardboard. The apps work on devices running android or Apple’s iOS operating systems and allow users to immerse themselves in a 360-degree, 3D video world.
“Our Mobile apps are also capable of authenticating users to allow them to watch trailers and free content if unregistered and protected content if they are logged in and an active member,” Lai said.
The company plans to showcase its VR technology during The Phoenix Forum, March 31 through April 3 at the Tempe Mission Palms hotel in Tempe, Ariz.
