Club Owner Insists Sex-for-Sale Charges are Revenge
BOISE, ID — Chris Teague is a busy man. In addition to owning the Erotic City and Night Moves strip clubs in Boise, ID, he has four felonies to deal with.”I’ve got enough going on without that trouble,” the beleaguered 39-year-old informed the Magic Valley Times News.
“That trouble” likely refers to accusations that Teague accepted money from prostitutes as part of a sex-for-sale ring that police insist existed within his clubs.
An Ada County grand jury found police and city officials’ accusations convincing enough that it indicted the club owner, but he insists that his dancers provide dates, nude massages, private lap dances, and strip shows — but not services of a more personal sexual nature.
According to Teague, the entire mess is the result of embarrassment he believes he has caused for the local police and city officials when he tried to work around the city’s nudity ban by handing out sketch pads and pencils to club patrons during “Art Night” in 2005. His idea was that if there was “serious artistic merit” in the evening’s entertainment, his dancer-models could wear less than the legislated thongs and pasties. In March 2006 he pled guilty to three misdemeanor charges related to the move.
County prosecutors, however, shrug off the accusations of revenge and point out that some of Teague’s ex-employees claim they worked as prostitutes for him. In fact, some of them claim that having sex with the boss was a part of the interview and hiring process.
