City Girl, Fun Factory Raise Funds for Breast Cancer Awareness
YNOT – Novelty manufacturer Fun Factory and CityGirlBlogs.com have united to help out the non-profit breast cancer group Pink Jams. Based in Washington DC, Pink Jams is dedicated to supporting breast cancer awareness among men and women over 40.
“Much of the available literature focuses on how cancer will harm your dating and sex life,” said Stef “City Girl” Woods, the attorney and blogger who founded CityGirlBlogs.com as a forum in which to explore her passions: relationships and sex. “However, if a patient values his or her sexual health and there are no medical restrictions to doing so, that patient should be encouraged to prioritize his or her sexual health.”
Since her diagnosis with breast cancer in 2010, Woods has been an active advocate for not just breast cancer awareness but also sexual health. She places particular emphasis on a personal conviction: Cancer need not mean the end of sexuality. In no way are the two mutually exclusive, she advises.
The fundraising partnership with Fun Factory was inspired by the latter’s stance on body-safe silicone and healthy female sexuality, Woods said. A Fun Factory spokeswoman said the manufacturer was only too happy to participate, considering Woods’ stand on the cancer-and-sex issue mirrors Fun Factory’s.
“To us this partnership helps share our belief that everyone can enjoy a healthy sexual life, including the thousands of women diagnosed with breast cancer each year,” Communications Director Emilie Rosanvallon said.
Through Oct. 31, anyone using City Girl’s promotional code — Citygirl, with a capital “C” — at Fun Factory not only will receive a 20-percent discount on their purchases, but also will help Pink Jams‘ mission: Fun Factory will donate an additional 20 percent of each City Girl-associated sale to the charity.
“I take enormous comfort in the fact that I don’t have to worry about the quality or safety of any Fun Factory product,” Woods said. “I wish more companies were as committed to their consumers’ health as Fun Factory.”
