Christian Station Turns Into “Porn Radio”
FRESNO, CA — Radio stations change formats all the time, especially when purchased by new owners. But the loyal listeners to KFYE-FM got more of a change than they bargained for when the station changed hands last month.Gone were the wholesome songs of God and salvation. Gone were the sermons and Bible stories. In their place was “Porn Radio” broadcasting “all sex radio, all the time.”
Those under the legal age for drinking alcohol are not encouraged to listen.
There’s nothing pornographic being played — and nothing listeners can’t hear elsewhere, but that doesn’t mean the goodly folk who loved the previous format don’t have strong opinions about how things are now.
“This format belongs on Sirius or XM, not over-the-air,” longtime Fresno radio personality Ed Beckman opined to the Fresno Bee.
Station owner Jerry Clifton disagrees. Current constantly steaming hits include popular mainstream songs such as “Why Don’t We Do It in the Road” by The Beatles, “Sexual Healing,” by Marvin Gaye, and “Nasty” by Janet Jackson. When songs aren’t particularly steamy, the currently commercial-free offerings are spiced up with pre-recorded gasps, moans, and groans.
