Christian Group “Strikes” Playboy Mansion
YNOT – When a Christian group in Los Angeles organized a series of prayer events for its small number of members, it clearly chose the language of war even while choosing only non-violent activities. The group, called “Strike LA,” organizes what it calls “strikes” on various sections of the Los Angeles community that it has decided are sinful and morally corrupt. The latest target was, of course, the adult entertainment industry – and according to the “Christian Post,” as many as “dozens” of people descended on their chosen target, the Playboy Mansion, for a round of really aggressive praying. In the Christian Post report, the “strike” is said only to have targeted a leading men’s magazine. “The name of which is withheld at the request of the organizer,” the website wrote, which is curious because the website for Strike LA happily mentions that its target was in fact the Playboy Mansion.
“We will be gathering for a major prayer initiative at the Playboy Mansion on the 56th Anniversary of their first publication,” reads a post on the Strike LA website. “The Lord has brought much revelation about the significance of this magazine to the shifting of our culture to embrace lust, sensuality, pornography, and all sorts of sexual perversion.”
What the Christian Post story failed to point out, however, is that Strike LA is in fact a kind of doomsday cult. Now that the year 2000 has come and gone without disaster, many doomsayers have turned to the year 2012 as the next deadline for humanity.
“We believe a major shifting is going to be released into the atmosphere on 12/12 beginning with Hollywood,” the website post read. “In the midst of the great darkness that has blinded the eyes of a generation – a great light is going to begin to overtake the land.”
The event organized around the Playboy Mansion seems to have involved only a lot of praying and a call for fasting. Still, some posters on the Christian Post website seem to have adopted the violent-sounding rhetoric that has become more and more a part of the Christian religious right in America.
“The size of the pornography industry is gigantic,” wrote one poster. “Such an enemy must be attacked from all aspects. And God, being the Lord of Hosts, should have the right to tell some of His warriors to attack from one particular position while others attack from another position. These persons received their marching orders and carried them out. I can’t question why God inspired them in their hearts to do this…but one thing I can do is ‘Shout for the battle’. We’re on the same side and we each have different fighting skills and different fighting duties.”
Despite the fact that the Strike LA group exists solely to target other groups for scorn, some posters on the Christian Post site still seemed to feel they themselves were the victims, not the aggressors.
“The fact that Satan and his minions are so active attacking Christians on a website entitled The Christian Post,” wrote one poster. “It is truly extraordinary! Chirst (sic) is coming soon! What a glorious time it be (sic) when we all get to heaven!”
