Chinese Amateur Porn Starlet Gets Police Attention
SHANGHAI — China’s conflicted relationship with sex continues. This time, a woman who broadcast video of herself engaging in what the government calls “sex acts” is paying the price. The woman, identified to Reuters only by the surname of Huang, has been detained by authorities in Shanghai while they investigate her alleged wrong-doings.
According to the state-run China Daily, a 12-minute online video depicted Huang in a manner unbecoming of a proper Communist in the early 21st century. Unfortunately for the authorities, those 12-minutes apparently made Huang quite popular among her countrymen.
Although the paper did not go into details it did state that police admit that Huang’s video “soon became one of the most popular downloads on the mainland, with thousands of people downloading it last month.”
China Daily continued, observing that Huang’s video had been popular enough to encourage her to set up her own blog in the hopes of selling interviews for as much as $4,000 per session.
In spite of no doubt heroic efforts on the part of China’s morality police, Huang’s video continues to circulate. Given that all forms of pornography are illegal in China, although pirated DVDs are wildly popular and internet sites still manage to be accessed, there is no knowing what penalties await Huang.
