Checking Out Hotties is Just Human Nature
WORLD — Porn surfers might not be able to pull themselves away from their screens when they see naked flesh that interests them – something that only makes them human, psychologists say.According to a recent study in the The Journal Of Personality and Social Psychology, gawking at people we find attractive is only natural for humans.
In a group of experiments on “attention adhesion,” psychologists found that every single male and female subject in their study visually fixated on people they found hot, and had a harder time looking away from those people than from those that they found not as hot. And yes, men and women engaged in this very behavior to the exact same, somewhat pervy, degree.
“Our research suggests that it’s inevitable to a degree,” said Dr. Jon Maner, assistant professor of psychology at Florida State University and author of the study, to MSNBC. “People’s eyes are automatically captured by attractive members of the opposite sex although our research also suggests that self-control can take over after that initial attentional bias.”
So, if your site’s initial splash page has that initial burst of hotness, human nature — and now, science — backs your odds of getting signups.
