Cell Phone Text Porn Inspires Violence and Factory Losses
CHINA — Publish or perish may be the motto of academics hoping to gain tenure, but when you’re a factory working sending smutty messages to co-workers, it might be something best left for leisure time. Or so one now-unemployed Chongqing factory worker discovered. It must have seemed like a good idea at the time, but by the time an employee only identified by the press as “Li” was finished, his simple text message complete with naughty photo was a very expensive one.
Expensive to the tune of $109,000 American.
It’s not clear whether the female recipient of the message, known only to the reading public as “Yang” was upset by the communiqué, but it’s clear that some of her relatives were.
According to the story as told by China Daily.com, Yang shared the joy of receiving the bawdy message with her family – and all hell broke loose.
Not apparently impressed by Li’s ways with his cousin, Yang Bing, one of the hapless woman’s male relatives, led three men into the factory the next day with the intention of kicking Li’s ass.
Understandably unhappy with this turn of events, the bruised and beaten Li decided to let his female friend know how he felt about being jumped at work – by entering her office and kicking her.
Unfortunately for Li, this didn’t make things better. It just got his ass beat once again by Yang Bing.
Once done teaching Li a lesson, Yang Bing paid a visit to the factory’s control room, where he made a high profile register of his disapproval – by cutting the power supply and thus causing the factory to lose three-quarters of a million yuan.
Although it’s not clear how things played out between Li and his overly protected co-worker, Yang Bing was given the gift of three years in jail by the court.
