TORONTO – A rebooted adult industry event launched with a bang April 20-23. The inaugural Toronto International Porn Festival, hosted by “sexuality store” Good For Her, sought to screen “the most creative, expressive, diverse and erotic pornography the industry has to offer.”

Formerly known as the Feminist Porn Awards, the new event presented a broader perspective on human sexuality than its predecessor.

“As a response to the growth and popularity of independent and progressive erotic films, the former Feminist Porn Awards have now been rebranded, to broaden the conversation about positive porn and reflect the diverse audience it attracts,” according to a statement from the organizers. “These films are for people of all genders, sexualities, bodies and pleasures.”

Following a 10-year run under its original name, the festival skipped 2016 so organizers could step back and reevaluate the industry, those it includes and those it serves.

In addition to an awards ceremony, the three-day event also included a variety of showcases and seminars designed to expand attendees’ sexual horizons. The awards illustrated the event’s new focus.
