LOS ANGELES — David Hans Schmidt, known for his penchant for discovering and selling celebrity porn materials to various parties, was arrested by the FBI this week for his alleged role in an extortion plot involving Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.Schmidt, who according to The Smoking Gun, is being held at a local federal detention center, allegedly tried to sell a pile of Cruise’s personal and private photos from the Cruise/Holmes wedding. No word on what was actually in the photos, but Schmidt sought a cool million for them.

The U.S. Attorney’s office is not commenting on the Schmidt arrest, saying that the Cruise complaint is sealed.

Schmidt is known for contacting Paris Hilton and Colin Ferrell in advance of trying to sell porno footage of them and he recently acted as agent for Kimberly Bell, ex-girlfriend of professional baseball player Barry Bonds and recent Playboy model. In the past, Schmidt has also had naked photos and/or footage of celebrities Tonya Harding, Fred Durst of the rock band Limp Bizkit, and Dustin “Screech” Diamond.

Hilton went on to star in Red Light District’s 1 Night In Paris which sold a bazillion copies. Diamond went on to star in Red Light District’s Screeched, which was presumably purchased by somebody.

Schmidt was arranged Thursday and bond was set at $100,000.
