CamSoda Hosted an MMA Live Stream Event
Writing for mmamania.com, Andrew Pearson’s headline screams: “That porn site-hosted MMA event went down tonight … and it was crazy.”
To wit, CamSoda is not exactly a “porn site” — but whatevs. They did, in fact, host a mixed martial arts live stream event that featured two former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighters on April 26, 2018.

Mixed martial arts (MMA) and porn have always had at least a thin layer of separation. No more. Camsoda — a porn streaming site — hosted an MMA event that featured two former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighters, former Heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez and former Middleweight Alex Nicholson. Charles Bennett — also known as “Krazy Horse” — was also on the card. And current UFC Welterweight A-hole Colby Covington was in attendance. It was a peak cultural moment for the sport, which has been building to this moment for more than 20 years now.
Coverage continued to suggest the fighters weren’t “bothered” by streaming via CamSoda – “[T]hey were just happy to be fighting somewhere where the checks would probably clear.”
Tipping was also happening — “Those watching the live stream can purchase tokens that will enable them to tip toward fight goals and determine cash bonuses.” — and each fighter’s take was announced after the event ended.
Funnily, viewers claimed to have no understanding as to why one might tip during a live stream, but the option to give your fav fighter a little token bump was interesting. Also, I’m guessing it was a strategic move on CamSoda’s part, done to make their regular customers feel more at home with the fight (versus sexy models) special event.
"Those watching the live stream can purchase tokens that will enable them to tip toward fight goals and determine cash bonuses." I have no idea what the fuck this means. https://t.co/tluAorkX2U

Aside from the oddness of streaming from a “porn site,” fairly conventional fight stuff happened during the event overall. Nicholson defeated Rodriguez, who tapped out at some point. Bennett lost to Bruce Lutchmedial.
Further, what sporting event would be complete without some conventional sex appeal? Don’t fret — the CamSoda live stream had that covered too.

All in all, this event seems genius. I’m only left to wonder if the fighters will be able to use their wins to advance their rankings within the sport overall – Was this thing even sanctioned, bro?!
