TORONTO – Camming Life has announced that its comedy web series Cam_Girlfriend won the Webseries Canada Spotlight Award at the T.O. Webfest and has been named an official selection in the Santa Monica WebFest and the Minnesota WebFest.
The 8th annual T.O. WebFest supports, connects, promotes, and celebrates independent content creators from Canada and around the world. The Santa Monica Webfest is in its second year and showcases the very best in short form digital content from around the world. The Minnesota WebFest, founded in 2017, brings the best web series in the world to Minnesota while also showing off Minnesota creative talent to the world. The festival will take place September 23-26 both online and in person.
Cam_Girlfriend is a 10-episode comedy series that follows the life of a cam girl, Chloe (Lily LaBeau), who struggles to juggle her relationships with her boyfriend and her dedicated camming fans. Each episode uncovers a new comedic element of what cam girls go through in their day-to-day and lets the public “see behind the curtain of the internet’s hottest trend,” as Camming Life puts it, along the way exploring “romance, technology, live connectivity, and love.”
“We felt the camming space was the perfect setting for a situational comedy,” the Cam_Girlfriend team said in announcing their win at T.O. Webfest. “At a time when so many of our relationships are fostered online, we realized that a show about Camming could be relatable and capture the ethos of what it’s like to be alive in the digital age. It’s an honor to win the Webseries Canada Spotlight award.”
“Chaturbate is proud to be involved with the Cam_Girlfriend series and help normalize camming in the mainstream media,” said Shirley Lara, Chief Operations Officer of Chaturbate. “Cam_Girlfriend perfectly depicts what life is like as a cam girl in a humorous, tongue and cheeky way. It’s amazing to see the web series being recognized by several different festivals on a global scale.”
CAMGF1 Productions is the company behind Cam_Girlfriend. The series was created by Ethan Cole; directed by Daniel AM Rosenberg; written by Ethan Cole and Michael Goldlist and produced by Jason Kennedy and Daniel AM Rosenberg. The series was made possible thanks to the Independent Production Fund.
