Cal/OSHA Subcommittee to Discuss Adult Industry Standards on Wednesday
YNOT – A subcommittee of California’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) will meet with the divisions board of directors from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Los Angeles to discuss safety standards for the adult entertainment industry. The public is invited to attend the meeting, scheduled to take place at 100 S. Main.In addition to blood-borne pathogen standards proposed by HIV/AIDS advocacy organization AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the subcommittee will discuss revisions proposed by the adult industry trade association Free Speech Coalition. FSC developed its proposal with the input of OSHA compliance experts and adult industry stakeholders.
“It is my hope that this meeting is not designed to carry the political agenda of AHF and others like them who know nothing about the adult industry but wish to regulate and control it,” FSC Executive Director Diane Duke said. “Whether Cal/OSHA will listen to the real stakeholders of this issue remains to be seen.”
The subcommittee members, which were appointed by Cal/OSHA, include adult industry attorney Paul Cambria, FSC representative and industry regulatory expert Kevin Bland, Hot House Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Steven Scarborough, Evil Angel General Manager Christian Mann, Traci Bryant, Dan Leal, Brian Chase, Peter Kerndt, Paula Tavrow, Denise Bleak, Gail Bolan and Frank Strona.
Wednesday’s meeting is the second of four intended to address regulations that may change the way adult content producers work. An additional subcommittee meeting will be followed by a Cal/OSHA board of directors meeting, to be held at a to-be-announced location in the San Francisco Bay area in October.
