Burlesque Beauty Peels for PETA
LOS ANGELES, CA — Former Mrs. Marilyn Manson and always beautiful fetish model and burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese is baring her all for zero pet population control. Thanks to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the heavenly body of Von Teese currently grace a series of sexy posters aimed at cooling the reproductive ardour of America’s pets.
Unveiled in Los Angeles this past Monday, the ABC Animals Birth Control campaign features Von Teese’ slender but shapely form snugly encased in a black and pink corset, stiletto pumps, and fishnet stockings while standing in front of a blackboard while an academic-type male gazes up at her.
While encouraging PETA website visitors to adopt animal shelter pets, Von Teese explains that “Nearly 4 million dogs and cats are put to death in the U.S. every year because there are not enough good homes. You can prevent this.”
The stylish brunette’s interest in the message isn’t purely professional. Von Teese, whose legal name is Heather Sweet, learned early about the risk of pet over reproduction and the importance of finding good homes when her childhood cat gave birth to a litter of as many as eight kittens. “You have to be responsible,” she told local media, “not just for your pet but for any animals your pet might produce, so I’ve always spayed and neutered my pets.” Echoing the words of many an advocate for both human and animal reproductive restraint, she added that, “It makes me so angry when people get a pet and then think they can just give it away when they don’t want it anymore. Your responsibility lasts for the pet’s whole lifetime.”
Von Teese is not the first celebrity to promote the animal cruelty message. A PETA ad featuring a nude Alicia Silverstone never saw the light of day, but did attempt to motivate the hungry to eschew meat and follow a vegetarian meal style.
