Brit Prep School Suspends Teacher over Nude Online Images
FOLKESTONE, England — A physical education teacher at exclusive all-boys grammar school was suspended Friday after students discovered nude images of him on a gay adult website.Sam Handley, 25, reportedly was surprised to find students at Harvey Grammar School trading the images via Facebook and mobile SMS messages. He was even more surprised to learn someone reported the existence of the images to the school’s headmaster.
Posted under the name “Mike,” the bio that accompanies the pictures indicates Handley is straight, but “not shy about showing off his body.” In some of the images he is noticeably aroused.
“In one snap he reclines naked on a bed with his legs apart,” The Sun reported. “In another he titillates men who flock to the site—which also features hardcore gay porn—by grabbing his manhood through his boxer shorts.”
Though embarrassed by the furor, Harvey said he is unrepentant about modeling for the site.
“I didn’t pose for anything pornographic,” he told The Sun after being suspended and told he might be fired for “inappropriate behavior.”
The 1,120-student boys-preparatory school, founded in 1674 and named for the physician credited with discovering how blood circulates, is no stranger to controversy. In 2006, the school earned the nickname “Pervy Grammar” after music teacher Kristina Howells appeared topless in a Cosmopolitan feature entitled “How Normal are Your Breasts?” Howells also told a national newspaper how losing weight revitalized her sex life in a story called “Losing Weight Put the Sizzle Back Into Sex.” She was fired.
Howells had been hired to replace a male teacher who resigned amid allegations he downloaded porn onto a school computer.
In a statement released Friday, Harvey Grammar officials said the Handley matter was under investigation.
“The principal suspended a member of staff following certain allegations and an investigation is under way,” the statement noted. “It would not be appropriate to make any further comment at this stage.”
