BranditScan Releases New “Catfish Scanner” Facial Recognition Tech
MONTREAL – In a release issued this week, personal brand protection service BranditScan touted the ability of the company’s latest facial recognition scanner to identify social media impostors and combat catfishing.
“Content creators can say good riddance to Instagram catfishes with BranditScan’s latest scanner,” the company said in its statement, adding that its new scanner uses brand name searches in combination with facial recognition technology to find “Instagram imposters” and take down the accounts.
“We wanted creators to kick-back and know they are in good hands,” a BranditScan representative said. “They simply need to provide us with a selfie, and their brand names when they sign up. The scanner will send over anything that matches their identity.”
The company rep added that the company was inspired to create the new scanner because “on a daily basis we would see creators asking fans to report fake accounts on Instagram, at times with little success.”
“We just knew there had to be an easier way to automate this for creators so they could easily find and takedown catfishes,” the rep said.
The catfish scanner is the latest in a set of protection features available as part of BranditScan’s $45/month Premium Plan, the company explained in its release, noting that creators can also submit links to BranditScan to effect takedown requests “for any other social platforms” in addition to Instagram.
“A creator creates their online brand and presence on more than one platform and we really believe that now more than ever, creators should have access to protect every aspect of their brand all in one spot, for a price that is affordable,” the BranditScan rep said.
