Boosting Site Speeds through Image Optimization
LOS ANGELES – One of the keys to success for online businesses specializing in content distribution is ensuring sites load quickly and seamlessly with no degradation of image quality.
Many companies have attempted to conquer the image-resolution frontier, but one content-management software developer that thinks it has the resolution-vs-speed conundrum licked.
According to founder and Chief Executive Officer AJ Hall, Elevated X incorporates a new utility that is able to optimize any image on a client’s server even if the image has not been imported into the CMS. The reduction of five to 10 percent in file size, he said, makes the utility “ideal for images used on pay-site tours, affiliate promotional galleries and other promo pages.
“The conversion is so precise that the image output is identical on a per-pixel level,” he said. “Anyone using Elevated X to manage their websites can log into their CMS and batch-convert all their existing JPEG files within a specific folder regardless of whether or not the CMS manages them.”
Hall said when the system is applied to content already imported into the Elevated X system, the process offers file size reductions of up to 35 percent with no visible loss of image quality.
“From a website performance standpoint, the benefits are massive,” he said. “Tour files such as JPEG logos and graphics can be reduced up to 10 percent, while tour update preview images and thumbnails can be reduced by as much as 35 percent.
“This reduction in image file size leads to faster load times with potential load speed reductions upwards of one-third, compared to previous images,” Hall added. “The impact this will have on mobile pay sites is huge.”
