SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Bondage.com, one of the Net’s top destinations for BDSM fans, has announced that its web servers are now “virtualized” by way of a deal with Virtuozzo “virtual server” software from SWsoft, a leader in server automation and virtualization software for service providers.Virtuozzo creates isolated, secure virtual private servers or virtual environments, on a single physical server. According to Bondage.com’s press release, this methodology enables better server utilization, ensuring guaranteed resources and preventing applications from conflicting.

“Given that we have over 2,000 of our community members logged on to Bondage.com at any given time and we are always offering new and exciting upgrades for our members, we felt it absolutely necessary to employ the use of 40 virtual servers in addition to the 40 servers we currently have had running,” says Bondage.com president Mark Pace.

“The virtual servers run on dedicated hardware nodes,” adds Pace. “So we built out the hardware nodes and now we are able to add and move servers with ease. To put it simply, this allows deployment time to happen in hours (not days or even weeks) to keep everything running consistently.”

According to the Bondage.com press release, each VPS “performs and executes exactly like a stand-alone server; VPSs can be rebooted independently and have users, IP addresses, processes, system libraries and configuration files,” and “the unique architecture enables the most efficient use of hardware, software and management resources.”

“Unlike other virtualization software, Virtuozzo doesn’t emulate the hardware. It lets virtual servers take advantage of the core operating system on the hardware node, making it extremely efficient,” says Pace. “Being virtualized tremendously reduces our server maintenance overhead and allows us to focus much more time on the needs of our ever-growing BDSM community.”
