Blurring the Lines between Porn, Mainstream TV
OAKLAND, Calif. – Porn parodies have become a mainstay of the traditional adult entertainment industry. Now the fetish segment is getting into the act with a series based on a popular television show.
Bondage is the New Black takes its cues from Orange is the New Black, a Netflix original series about a successful female executive sentenced to prison for her association with a drug dealer 10 years earlier. The tongue-in-cheek porn version includes not only a fully developed storyline, but also bondage and explicit sex.
“We saw an opportunity to cross some lines here, which is what Netflix and the cable channels are experimenting with,” said O.T., who directs the series for bondage studio Intersec Interactive Inc. “TV shows are starting to look like movies, and a streaming video distributor [Netflix] is making its own show. In that spirit, we’ve made a porn series that looks like a TV show.”
The first episode debuted Nov. 14 on InfernalRestraints.com. The pilot comprises three episodes. If those prove popular, the series may be continued.
Intersec Interactive (formerly Insex) has produced bondage, BDSM and rough sex content since 1997. The studio films its controversial material at a studio in Oakland and on a secluded farm in upstate New York.
The studio maintains an affiliate program, KinksterCash, that pays up to 60-percent recurring revenue share.
