Bitcoin Gets Mixed Reaction from Adult Programs
LOS ANGELES and SEATTLE – Two more operators of adult entertainment websites have weighed in on the viability of bitcoins as payment for goods and services. While one embraces the virtual currency, the other has said, unequivocally, it would rather receive payment in goats.
“We have zero tolerance for make-believe money that spikes or craters in value on an hourly basis,” said Zero Tolerance spokesman Michael Mpahlca. “On the other hand, goats have proven to have real value for centuries and can easily be traded for other goods or services in just about every region of the world. When you look at the relevant livestock pricing index you can also quickly see that the goat market, unlike bitcoins, moves for intelligible reasons grounded in logical and trackable analytics — something all prudent online adult companies take seriously in our planning.”
For data to back up his statements, Mphalca pointed to the Canadian government’s statistics for red meat markets.
“While many have predicted the extinction of goats or the idea that mechanization of certain agricultural tasks would obviate the need for goats in the workforce, to this point in time the goat has remained one of the most efficient methods of clearing fields, providing milk and calming other animals, including thoroughbred racehorses,” he said, noting that Zero Tolerance expects goats to outlast the bitcoin craze by millennia. “We are taking a pro-goat stance to protect our own interests and the interests of our affiliate webmasters. When someone sends their traffic to ZTOD, they will get paid every penny, euro or goat they are entitled to. Neither their hard earned revenue nor ours will be subjected to the rampant speculation and market fluctuation that plagues the bitcoin world.”
The bitcoins are greener on the opposite side of the virtual fence, at least in the estimation of the folks who operate VideosZ.com.
“We rolled out the new bitcoin option last weekend and have already started seeing excellent results,” said spokesman Clement. “Some of our fans had asked if there was a way for us to add bitcoin, and when we looked deeper into the idea we discovered a secure solution was available via BitPay, so we added it to the choices presented to consumers on our join pages.
“As with anything we add to the VideosZ brand, we looked carefully at all the available options out there,” he added. “The installation of the necessary software was simple and the cash-out structure of [the BitPay] platform makes sense. We are already bringing in bitcoin revenue, which confirms that a significant number of our potential customers prefer bitcoin over other available options. Just how big the market will be remains unknown at this time, but on a cost-to-benefit analysis basis, it already makes great sense for us to provide it for our fans and affiliate webmasters.”
Bitcoins are unregulated virtual currency that may be exchanged anonymously via a secure e-wallet system. Although some early speculators reported reaping fortunes when exchanging accumulated stashes for real-world money, lately several bitcoin exchanges have come under government and law-enforcement scrutiny. The currency’s popularity and relative value took a hit in late January when the FBI arrested a major player in the bitcoin game for accepting the cryptocurrency in exchange for illicit drugs. Financial experts are leery of bitcoins because they lack the properties of real currency.
Nevertheless, the first bitcoin ATMs are expected to open in Austin, Texas, and Seattle in February.
In the meantime, ZTOD and VideosZ offer webmasters opportunities to earn affiliate revenue, paid in whatever currency makes sense to them. Affiliates may join VideosZ’s program here and earn $35 per sign-up or 60-percent recurring revenue share. ZTOD’s affiliate program offers $35 to $40 per sign-up or up to 65-percent recurring revenue share.
Both will pay webmasters in the currency most appropriate for their market … even if that currency is goats.
