Bing Outpaces Other Search Engines’ Growth in August
NEW YORK – With a month-over-month growth rate of 22.1 percent, Bing outpaced all other search engines during August, according to the Nielsen Company’s monthly report. Bing’s search share increased from 9 percent in July to 10.7 percent in August.Google, which grew at a month-over-month rate of 2.9 percent, continued as the No. 1 search provider with seven billion searches and a 64.6-percent search share. Yahoo backslid to a negative growth rate of -4.2 percent, but the search engine retained a distant No. 2 ranking with a share of 16 percent and 1.7 billion searches.
Bing placed third in the rankings with 1.2 billion searches followed by AOL Search with a 3.1-percent share based on 3.3 million searches.
Ask.com, My Web Search, Comcast Search, Yellow Pages Search, NexTag and Local.com rounded out the top 10 search providers.
