Bears Rub Out Rural Idaho Internet
YNOT – As if American pornographers didn’t have enough to worry about with the right-wing religious-wacko contingent constantly lobbying for internet censorship. Now even wildlife seems to be voicing its opinion about internet pornography.
According to a New York Times report, American black bears are wreaking havoc with internet connections in rural Idaho by damaging the towers that carry transmission lines.
Like Idaho needs more internet trouble. According to the Times, the state already has the slowest internet access in the U.S. Part of the reason for the sluggishness is geography and logistics: Idaho simply doesn’t have a lot of people, and what people it does have are dispersed. Cable companies and other broadband providers don’t see a lot of green (money) when it comes to providing internet access in Idaho.
Barry Ramsay, who owns a small manufacturing company between two mountains in Potlatch, Idaho, told the Times he’s frustrated, but slow and non-existent internet access due to rampaging wildlife is one of the irritations one must endure in order to avoid the rat race.
“These are the kind of problems you probably don’t have in an urban area,” Ramsay said.
