Award-winning Director Spawns Two New Studios
MONTREAL – Award-winning adult filmmaker Mason, known as much for producing erotica for couples as for stylized, ultra-hardcore gonzo, has created two new, autonomous studios under the OpenLife Entertainment umbrella — one for each of her most popular genres.
According to a prepared statement distributed Tuesday, EroticaX will produce “glamorous, couples-oriented movies” and HardX will release “stylized, hardcore showcases and gonzo.”
Mason said EroticaX’s offerings will represent a departure from what fans have come to expect from her. She described the features as “beautiful and intimate exchanges between performers,” shot entirely with digital single-lens-reflex video cameras.
“For EroticaX, my main focus is on connection and chemistry,” the director explained. “I love shooting with the DSLR cameras. The results are visually stunning.”
The debut release from the other studio, HardX, is scheduled to hit stores in late September. Mason considers the feature a hardcore showcase, and said the production includes rising star Anikka Albrite’s first anal scene.
“It’s one of the best movies I’ve ever been a part of,” Mason said. “Anikka gave everything to this movie.”
Claude Hyppolite, president of OpenLife Entertainment, indicated the parent corporation is depending on the new studios to set the bar for the entire operation going forward. Everything produced under OpenLife’s auspices will be released on multiple platforms — including DVD, internet, video-on-demand, mobile and broadcast television — so the bar was set high to begin with.
“After building up OpenLife’s catalogue of performer websites, it was time to turn our attention to original content,” Hyppolite said. “Through HardX and EroticaX, Mason is going to create perennial award contenders, which we will be able to offer fans over a variety of platforms.”
