AVN Names Steve Javors Associate Managing Editor
YNOT – Steve Javors has been named associate managing editor at AVN, the longstanding adult entertainment industry trade journal announced. Javors moved to the AVN Media Network from rival XBIZ, where he previously served as editor-in-chief of the latter’s Premier adult retail trade magazine.Javors’ responsibilities in his new position include covering daily news for AVN.com and writing in-depth features for the monthly print publication AVN.
A Brooklyn, NY, native, Javors got his start in journalism as a student at St. John’s University in Jamaica, NY, where he served as the sports editor for the student newspaper. He resigned the position in 2002 to accept a prestigious internship in the public relations department with the NBA’s New York Knicks.
While in college Javors also interned for PSP Sports, the nation’s largest publisher of game-day sports programs. He edited and wrote spot copy for a plethora of publications, including the official magazines of the Seattle Mariners, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots. He also edited the Heisman Trophy section of national game-day insert Touchdown Illustrated.
Javors freelance work has been published in College Basketball Illustrated, Newsday and Queens-Times Ledger, as well as online at NYKnicks.com and SportsUniversity.com.
He migrated to the adult entertainment industry as public relations director for MALLcom. In 2006 he joined the staff at XBIZ, where he managed the content, design, production and promotion of Premiere.
He has been quoted as a knowledgeable source about the adult industry in the Los Angeles Times, US Weekly, and the Las Vegas Sun, as well as by E! Online, Wired.com, TheDailyBeast.com and National Public Radio.
