Automated System Streamlines Inventory Management
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – One of the oldest gay adult retail sites on the web now also is one of the most efficient, thanks to a new automated inventory-management system that tracks stock on hand in real-time.
The addition is part of an ongoing, comprehensive overhaul of BoysInc.com, which debuted in 1998. At the time, adult toys, lubricants, books and apparel catering to the gay market were difficult to find online. Since then, the gay-owned, gay-managed store has expanded to offer products for customers of all lifestyles, though the focus remains on gay consumers.
The inventory-management system followed an upgrade that added eBay and Amazon feeds to the website’s shopping cart. According to a spokesperson for Boys Inc.’s hosting company, inventory accuracy helps to minimize the risk of order cancelations and delays in shipping due to unexpected shortages or backorders.
“Automation was key for [Boys Inc.],” said Michelle Lockhart, vice president for sales at Red Apple Media. “It was essential for this expansion to be done quickly and correctly the first time. We’ve helped [our client] get that much closer to 100-percent customer satisfaction.”
BoysInc.com’s affiliate program pays a 10-percent revenue share.
