Authorities Seize Animal Rights Group’s Inflatable Dolls
PHILIPPINES — People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) take their mission very seriously. That doesn’t mean they don’t have a sense of humor, however. Given their recent penchant for naked statements of protests concerning the evils of wearing animal skins or consuming their flesh, it’ no real surprise that the group continues to push the bounds of good taste and creativity in order to make its point. Unfortunately for PETA, the Philippines Bureau of Customs doesn’t appear to have the same jolly sense of naughty good fun. When a shipment of inflatable sex dolls intended for use in a campaign against Kentucky Fried Chicken made it into Philippine control, officials sprang into action. According to PETA, that action included apprehending and retaining their sex dolls.
The condition of the inflatable love devices, which have already seen tours of duty in Thailand, Japan, and the red light districts of the Philippines, is unknown, and the group says that they were seized by Customs when they arrived in the country via a U.S. parcel service.
Press covering the incident report that neither KFC Philippines nor Customs have commented on the situation.
Although U.S. representative for KFC have denied the group’s allegations in the past, the sex dolls were to be part of a “KFC Blows” campaign protesting abuse of chickens via beak removal while still conscious and death by scalding, both of which it claims to have witnessed during “undercover operations.”
