With a selling price of just under two-hundred dollars – although show attendees were offered a discounted rate as a special Cybernet Expo promotion – the Resource is a collection of important legal information that is of special significance to companies and individuals who offer adult entertainment through the Internet. The Resource is approximately the size of a small phone book.
“It’s a culmination of the research that I’ve done and that Greg has done over the last really eight to ten years,” attorney Fred Lane told YNOT. “Specifically it’s grown out of the adult seminars that we’ve been doing, and our goal is to provide people with a basic understanding of the laws that apply to this industry.”
Lane told YNOT that the Resource is not a substitution for legal advice, but offers a number of advantages for adult Webmasters – even those who have not yet selected an attorney.
“The way we look at this book is, number one, it gives people an understanding of the basic legal issues that apply to the work that they do. People need to know what laws they have to deal with. Secondly, it’s going to help them save money when they visit an attorney because they’ll be able to ask intelligent questions, they’ll be able to skip to the stuff that’s really important to them. And thirdly, the thing that we think is great about this, is that it will help people pick a good attorney because they can go into an attorney and say, ‘I’m concerned about these issues, are these issues that you know something about?’ And they’ll be able to really use it, frankly, as a tool for picking someone that will help protect their rights.”
Adult Internet professionals interested in obtaining a copy of the book will have to wait a little bit longer while Lane and Piccionelli revamp their Web site, which is currently unavailable. Once the Web site is back online, Webmasters can order copies of the Resource by visiting www.techlawseminars.com. Interested parties do not need to be clients of Lane or Piccionelli in order to purchase the Resource.
“We’ll have online processing within the week and people will be able to order online,” said Lane.
