ASACP Honors its Featured Sponsors for May 2017
LOS ANGELES, CA — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is pleased to recognize its Featured Sponsors for the month of May 2017.
Each month, ASACP highlights companies that have stepped up to take responsibility for keeping kids safer online, offering examples of self-regulation, corporate responsibility, and ethical operation.
ASACP’s Executive Director Tim Henning says the association’s Featured Sponsors are among the adult industry’s most successful companies and must take positive steps to protect their own business interests — especially when it comes to preventing access to age-restricted materials.
“Self-regulation by website owners is an increasingly important way for the industry to show that it can govern itself and is the best way to forestall governmental intervention and strict corporate restrictions,” Henning explains. “As a non-profit association, ASACP provides free tools companies can use to protect children online, thanks to the generosity of its sponsors.”
This generosity fuels the association’s tireless mission and 20-plus-year record of success.
For example, ASACP’s internationally recognized Child Exploitation Tipline has processed more than one million CP reports since its inception, while its award-winning Restricted To Adults (RTA) meta labeling prevents children’s access to adult-oriented web pages and mobile apps. The association’s Best Practices that are tailored to specific market segments, and its universal Code of Ethics, guides digital media firms towards child-safe operation while preserving adults’ freedom of choice, offering an alternative to restrictive regulations.
For May, ASACP honors CCBill and CommerceGate as its latest Featured Sponsors, recognizing their ongoing support of the association and its gratitude for the continuing commitment shown by these companies to making the internet safer for children.
CCBill
Payment Services Provider CCBill, an ASACP Title Sponsor supporting the association since 2008, serves both merchant and consumer markets alike.
“ASACP is a critical component in both helping to maintain corporate responsibility within online markets and demonstrating our community’s commitment to childhood protection,” CCBill’s Gary Jackson says. “We are proud to offer our support as Title Sponsor, and look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership.”
Jackson represents CCBill on ASACP’s Advisory Council, further demonstrating CCBill’s proud commitment to supporting the association.
“As an invited member of the ASACP Advisory Board, we are honored to contribute to helping the industry remain diligent and engage in what we consider to be the right thing — supporting child protection and preventing child exploitation,” Jackson says. “What some may not know is that the CCBill Ethics and Code of Conduct Policies, which we adopted and applied to our merchants, were developed with the assistance of the ASACP, and working with Tim Henning during their development was a solid contribution to how we operate on this front.”
“With stark governmental regulations looming and in the current global political environment, ASACP’s leadership is vital in representing our industry needs, to help protect from unfair and uninformed actions against our business segment,” Jackson adds. “The efforts ASACP undertakes to focus on child protection measures is something which we at CCBill see as paramount to maintaining a favorable business climate.”
CommerceGate
An ASACP Corporate Sponsor since 2010, Barcelona-based CommerceGate offers Europe’s online businesses a complete set of services for accepting credit card payments quickly and safely, with advanced fraud protection, effective risk management, and tailored client and end-user support.
CommerceGate’s payment gateway comes loaded with tools and features for businesses. Since 2006, CommerceGate managers have helped thousands of merchants grow their business and maximize their revenue through a complete set of services built from the ground up based on best-of-breed technology and business practices.
A recognized and lauded innovator in payment processing, CommerceGate’s award-winning imaging and output technology has continued to evolve as the world becomes more digital and connected, with numerous significant updates over the past year, including a Merchant BackOffice powered by a custom Dashboard, a new and improved customer support website, an advanced payment page, and more, show the company’s desire to stay at the forefront of technology.
May’s Featured Sponsors show even non-content-driven companies such as payment processors and other service providers can also play a role in keeping children away from age-restricted materials.
“ASACP’s Featured Sponsors represent the very pinnacle of adult corporate leadership,” Henning concludes. “By supporting ASACP and its mission, these companies are moving the industry towards a safer future for youth and for adult-oriented business alike.”
