As Case Winds On Slowly in Panama, Salaff Issues Another Call for Donations
PANAMA – Fred Salaff, the American porn producer under country-wide house arrest in Panama, has issued another plea for financial assistance and donations to his legal fund to further his attorney’s efforts to get the case dismissed.“Things move very, very slowly in Panama, especially justice,” Salaff wrote in a recent email. “The police major, Erik Estrada who made the false arrest in my case is now finally under judicial scrutiny. His falsification of the arrest documents is moving through the system ever so slowly but the implications are of extreme importance.”
Salaff’s attorney advised him that if an official charge is entered against Estrada, it could lead to a dismissal of all charges against Salaff, who is currently awaiting trial, with a court date set for October 24.
“If Estrada is finally charged with the crime of falsification of the documents, along with his cohorts who assisted, it could possibly mean a dismissal of all charges against me and all the others who are still technically in the case,” Salaff stated in his most recent email.
“The important factor is for my attorney to apply all possible pressure within the system to get a definitive charge against Estrada,” Salaff added. “Because my lawyer needs more money, especially now, I am appealing for donations to my legal defense fund.”
Salaff was arrested on January 23rd, 2005, and he his company, Rio Bueno, LTD, SA, were charged with coercing prostitutes to perform in his adult productions, failing to obtain and file the proper paperwork to film adult movies in Panama, and not taking proper measures to prevent minors from being exposed to sexual activity. All but the charge of exposing of minors to sexual activity were subsequently dropped, almost immediately following the arrest.
