FemmeFatale of adult sexting platform Arousr is opening up about why ‘Cam Sex Chat Work Sucks!’ in a new YouTube video.

While cam work has exploded in the wake of the pandemic, FemmeFatale – who worked as a live cam model for over a decade before leaving to join the administrative side – says there are three main drawbacks to the daily grind of camming: hustling for tips, no breaks and being treated like a robot.

“You never know what you’re going to make because it is one hundred percent tip-based… you can be sitting in a chat room all day for eight hours, talk to everyone, greet every new member who comes in to lurk and jerk on your ass, and you will maybe not make money… you have so much competition with thousands of other models that are all online at the exact time as you are, doing the exact same thing.

“There are two types of tips in webcam modeling… there’s the pity tip, when you’re sweet but you have no traffic in your room… but if you’re really popular, then guys just want to tip you because there are hundreds of members in your room all watching you and they want your attention.“

As for the lack of work breaks, FemmeFatale says “you’re going to lose all the traffic you just generated; you’re live the entire time and if you turn off your camera for a break, your room leaves so you have to start all over again, and it can take hours to generate enough traffic to get butts in seats, eyes on your booty in your room.”

But the worst part of live webcam work, she adds, is that “you’re treated like a robot; you get in this weird mental frame that you work strictly on tips. So in order for you to connect with someone, they have to be tipping you – because if they’re not tipping you, it’s not worth your time… when someone does tip you, you have to do whatever they tipped you for.”

So what’s the alternative to this? “Arousr! My favorite thing about Arousr is that it really promotes empathy and connection on a one-on-one basis, and it’s not in a livestreaming room… it’s just you and one other person. It’s a completely different type of connection… and NOT tip-driven. It’s just a really cool way to connect mentally and stimulate your senses more intellectually and sexually-speaking that are deeper than we see on the surface.”
