APHSS Changes Name
CANOGA PARK, Calif. – Effective immediately, the adult performer health-testing program formerly known as Adult Production Health & Safety Services has changed its name to better reflect the organization’s objectives and scope.
The new name, PASS, is an acronym for Performer Availability Screening Services.
Along with the name change came a change in online location. Visitors to the URL APHSS.org will be redirected to FSCPASS.org. FSCPASS.com also redirects to the FSCPASS.org landing page.
Free Speech Coalition Vice President Christian Mann, who chairs the program now known as PASS, explained the rationale behind the changes.
“The reasons for the change are simple and logical,” he said. “First, we wanted an acronym that was easier to remember and pronounce. Second, Performer Availability Screening Services is a much more accurate description of what we provide.”
Mann also clarified the PASS’ role in the adult entertainment industry.
“The testing facilities and their affiliated doctors provide the health and safety component for our performers,” he said. “We [at the FSC, which administered APHSS and will continue in that capacity for PASS] just provide the database and its oversight management so producers and performers can obtain reliable and verifiable availability information without compromising medical privacy. No small feat, but nothing we’ve seen comes closer.
“This one hub has been an invaluable resource,” Mann continued. “I’m pleased we have participation from all the testing facilities that comprise the overwhelming choice of performers and agents in the industry. Further, participation in the program is open to all, independent of a participant’s membership or lack of membership in the FSC.”
Adult industry trade association FSC operates PASS as a resource for the adult production community. The database system upholds rigorous standards for performer health testing and defines medical and safety protocols for participating testing facilities. FSC encourages all adult performers and producers to utilize the PASS system.
