AOL Poll: Women Prefer Cash to Sex
CYBERSPACE – It’s the economy, stupid. When it comes to love or money, most women will take the money during these trying financial times, according to a national survey conducted by AOL’s Shortcuts.com and AllYou.com.The poll, which surveyed 5,300 adult women and 600 men, discovered the vast majority of women would rather have an extra $50 a week to spend than spend more time making love.
The New York Daily News followed with an informal poll of New York women and found at least in the Big Apple, eight out of nine among the fairer sex would prefer to cut the fun stuff than slice their budgets any deeper.
“Two years ago, I would have responded differently, but in these times, money is definitely a priority over sex,” Tracy Miller, a 35-year-old bartender told the Daily News.
Fay Stuart, a 27-year-old homemaker, told the paper, “I’d take the money hands-down. In this recession, I’d rather have more money and security than sex.”
According to Daily News staff writer Kavita Mokha, the results were the same across all age groups, including college students.
“I’d rather pay off student loans,” Lauren Viteritti, 19, told Mokha. “I need the money more than sex right now.”
Mokha found only one naysayer during her survey.
“Sex is definitely worth more than $50,” Melanie L., 39, said. “I’ve been married happily for four years. We’re not gonna take it with us when we die. I’d rather die a happy woman.”
