Another Stealth Device Promises ‘Track-Free’ Porn
YNOT – Judging by the number of “stealth-browsing” products hitting the market recently, the internet has increased the world’s paranoia level dramatically. Another USB device promising to prevent web surfers from leaving tracks behind in their browsers debuted Wednesday. The product launch is the second of its kind in a month.
The StealthUSB device allows users to gamble, watch adult content, enjoy fetishes online, video chat, email and instant message without leaving a trace of data on the computer, according to its developer. By storing all data and browser tracks on a USB thumb drive, the product prevents prying eyes of all kinds from discovering what Joe Surfer does in his spare time. Simply unplug the device from the computer, and all history leaves with it. The drive also limits exposure to viruses and malware, the developer noted.
“What you do when you’re web browsing, emailing or instant messaging is no one else’s business,” said Roger Wilco, chief executive officer of New York City-based StealthUSB LLC. “If you want to watch porn or gamble or communicate with your girlfriend or boyfriend, you should have a right to do so privately.”
Online privacy has become a major concern as more and more websites place “cookies” and otherwise track and store user information. Email and instant messaging have played roles in recent high-profile relationship meltdowns. Social networks like Facebook are notorious for their privacy issues. StealthUSB offers privacy protection not previously available on a simple, easy-to-use device, Wilco said.
The thumb drive may be purchased online and is expected to be available in retail stores after Jan. 1.
The company offers an affiliate program that pays $20 per sale.
