Another Social Network Cozies Up to Adult
YNOT – A new social network hoping to attract adult industry members and fans has launched in beta mode.
Like every other social network, Zipper List allows users to create custom profiles and initiate consensual communication with other users. According to a launch announcement, the site offers “all of the networking tools found on websites such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.” In addition, a profile-to-profile video-chat service is included.
Zipper List also adds something not so usual: Registered members may post erotic fiction and create networked blogs.
Although membership is free, the site rewards loyalty by awarding redemption points that may be used to claim prizes.
“We at Zipper List encourage customer sharing by rewarding points for specific valuable actions: posting XXX adult stories, recommendations and recruiting (new user referrals) on various [other] social networks like Twitter and Facebook,” a notice on the site states.
One area in which the site may alienate the very industry it hopes to attract is its so-called news section. Articles, complete with original artwork, are repurposed from a variety of sources including Playboy.com and AVN.com. No links back to the sources are included, nor is the creator credited in most cases. Fans may find the approach convenient, but it’s doubtful the originators will view uncredited “sharing” of their content favorably.
