Another Pinterest for Porn Launches
YNOT – Calling itself a “traffic generator,” Porntack.com launched Tuesday, adding another Pinterest-type social network to the online adult entertainment landscape.
Developed by the creators of adult tube site Shufuni.com, Porntack allows users to save and share their porn collections, categorized (or not) in ways that make sense to them. According to Porntack’s owners, the site “is also the latest and most advanced vehicle for site owners and affiliates to spread the word about their sites and drive traffic,” although a quick check of the items pinned on Tuesday revealed most were “tacked” from other user-upload sites like Tumblr and various tubes.
“Thanks to Porntack.com, clients can now tack their porn images and videos in one place, organize them using virtual tackboards and share them with other users,” a prepared statement noted. “What this means for site owners and affiliates is exposure, exposure and more exposure. All free.
“Tacking automatically includes a link to the item’s source site, which publicizes the site and increases its traffic,” the statement continued. “This viral process makes sure that site owners and affiliates will get the best targeted traffic.”
It’s worth noting that links are not attached to the images and videos themselves, but instead reside in gray type on a gray stripe above the actual tack. Users accustomed to Pinterest’s format will need to look for the link if they want to find the material’s source.
The site does attempt to allay intellectual property owners’ concerns by including contact information for a DMCA agent in the British Virgin Islands. In addition, Porntack warns users and potential users their accounts may be terminated if they repeatedly engage in copyright infringement.
“Porntack.com respects all copyright laws and intellectual property rights of other sites and expects its users to act the same,” a DMCA notice posted at the site states. “Porntack.com’s policy provides for the termination, in appropriate circumstances, of registered users or other account holders who repeatedly infringe and/or are believed to be repeatedly infringing the rights of copyright holders.”
Then, addressing content owners, the statement adds, “We apologize for any kind of misuse of our service and promise to do our best to find and terminate abusive files.”
According to a company spokesperson named George, Porntack’s strength lies in the power of sharing. He indicated the more times an image or video is tacked, the more potential customers the copyright owner will reach.
“We are proud to present Porntack.com — a new social arena where everyone in the online porn industry gains,” George said. “We expect that millions of porn lovers will enjoy Porntack.com and that site owners and affiliates will benefit from segmented and effective traffic. We spared no costs while developing the site’s features, in order to ensure the success of this endeavor.”
