And the Real Winner is???

Don’t you find it amazing what people put on their plate each day as “Top Priority?” Especially with the way the world is today. It seems to me that there is so much more opening up to me as important, and the old bullshit I used to care about just doesn’t matter.YNOT WIRE
Don’t you find it amazing what people put on their plate each day as “Top Priority?” Especially with the way the world is today. It seems to me that there is so much more opening up to me as important, and the old bullshit I used to care about just doesn’t matter. The old saying “Don’t sweat the little stuff, and everything is little stuff,” seems to reign true with me lately.
I personally have pretty much experienced an “awakening” you might say since the terrorist bombings. I know I have spoken of this before in my previous wires, but each week it has defined itself more clearly than the previous week. I truly feel lucky to have what I have and to be alive right now. Is this just me, or is this the new gemeinschaft of America?
Work to me has much more meaning than a place to go to and make a buck. It is the daily interaction with many, many people that I am starting to take notice of. Everyone can make or break another person’s day, so why not just make it? If you have ever been in my office you can notice the bazillion emails a day, the ICQ going off like crazy, and the phone ringing off the hook. I used to take this as “part of the job”. The ding of a new email, the “UH OH” of ICQ, and the “RING RING RING” of the phone used to drive me NUTS. Now I take it as a blessing. With everything happening, there are still people wanting and needing to talk to me. I find that refreshingly rewarding.
We here at YNOT have been busting our butt to bring new and leading ideas to the Adult Internet. We have forged new relationships with successful people and are starting to see some great results. We still haven’t even launched a few projects we have been working on for over a year. Stay tuned, it is coming! We are also lucky enough to be in an industry not too affected by the explosions in New York and Washington. As a matter of fact, I hear every week from Webmasters who are saying their business is way up. Sign ups are through the roof. Excellent! These are things I am noticing in regards to work. The good things, the silver linings, and the daily interaction with people who mean the world to me, are just a few examples.
Of course there are people out there that just seem to be terminally grumpy or chronic liars. But they don’t even bother me now. Even proven liars seem comical to me now. Everything out of their mouth just makes me laugh. It is almost like watching a really bad drama on television. The show is trying to be just and true, but all the lines are hilarious. I choose now to change channels, or put on my “ignore” list. Just click them onto the “ignore” button as if an ICQ number represents their life, and move on. Life is too short to deal with these idiots. I would rather spend my time talking to the real people of our Industry, than deal with the raving lunatics that are making fools of themselves.
It is time to start noticing some of the amazing people in this industry. There needs to be an award show for Webmasters. The top technical people in our Industry would get their props, and the humanitarians in our Industry would get theirs too. The people, who are not just talented at our business, but are incredible human beings. There are so many of them in our Industry. We should put our energies toward recognizing these people, rather than laughing at the liars and idiots. If I fail to mention any of you, please forgive me.
Not many people are aware of this, but there is another owner to YNOT Network. His name is Gary Grigoryan (http://www.ynotmasters.com/wm_directory/profiles/Gary_G.html). He has been the head programmer here since way back in the Rick days. He prefers to keep a low profile and instead of heading to conventions and shows, he sits and works for hours and hours to perfect what everyone knows as YNOTmasters. Gary is possibly THE most patient person I know. I can’t tell you how many times I have contacted him freaking out about some error I made while working on YNOT and he just sits there and calmly explains things to me in a way that makes me understand (not an easy task folks). He is also an exceptional programmer and web designer. You will be seeing some of his new work in the next few weeks, and you will be stoked. He is also a very good friend. For outstanding human interaction, high moral values, and exceptional Webmaster work, and by the powers vested in me, I award you the Webmaster of the Year. Congratulations to Gary Grigoryan.
Have any of you heard of a wonderful woman called PattyeCake (http://www.ynotmasters.com/wm_directory/profiles/Pattye.html)? This unbelievable woman has been in the Industry for quite some time. She is a very talented Webmistress, and is currently Director of Support over at Insite Investments (http://www.insiteadult.com/index.shtml?pattyecake). PattyeCake is one of those rare people you are lucky to have in your life. If you ask her, she would do anything for you. She is a true Samaritan and can always be found putting together one Webmaster auction or another for various important charities. Her last one, Webmasters Against Child Abuse, raised over $200K in a couple short hours. For outstanding human interaction, high moral values, and exceptional Webmaster work, and by the powers vested in me, I award you the Webmistress of the Year. Congratulations to PattyeCake.
There is another wonderful woman in our Industry, and her name is RRRED (http://www.ynotmasters.com/wm_directory/profiles/RRRED.html). RRRED has been in this Industry, too, for a long time. She currently works for the great people over at Join4Free/WEG Inc (http://www.join4free.com/). RRRED gets special attention for putting together the last auction for the victims of the World Trade Tower disasters. Her auction rallied some $450,000. UNBELIEVABLE! RRRED is also a talented Webmistress, an incredible person, and great friend. For outstanding human interaction, high moral values, and exceptional Webmaster work, and by the powers vested in me, I award you the Webmistress Humanitarian Award of the Year. Congratulations RRRED!
Now while these amazing people have put on these auctions, there are also people who bid and donated the money. We cannot forget about these people. And remember, these people are people we all work with, we interact with, and we know. They are all just a phone call away from helping. Honorable mentions include JoeE (http://www.ynotmasters.com/wm_directory/profiles/JoeE.html) of CEN, JohnIP (http://www.ynotmasters.com/wm_directory/profiles/JohnIP.html)of Insite Investments, the entire Sweet Entertainment Group (http://www.sweetpartners.com/), and Brad Shaw of Shaw Internet (http://www.shawinternet.com/). The winner this year by donating a whopping $170,000 dollars to the relief fund, and for donating more than $20,000 to the WACA auction, is Marc De at ARS (http://www.adultrevenueservice.com/). For outstanding human interaction, high moral values, and exceptional Webmaster work, and by the powers vested in me by myself, I award you the Webmaster Humanitarian Award of the Year. Congratulations Marc!
Of course there are many more categories we could come up with. And we should. There would be the “Industry Person with the most Honesty and Integrity” award, which my vote would cast for a tie between Otto (http://www.ynotmasters.com/wm_directory/profiles/Otto.html) and Oz (http://www.ynotmasters.com/wm_directory/profiles/_Oz_.html). There would be the “Most Improved”, “Best Supporting Webmaster”, etc. What categories do you suggest and whom do you think would win? Let me know. I would probably agree with you.
This Industry has gone far too long listening to that which is negative. I think all Webmasters are tiring of certain ravings by certain people. It is definitely noticed by the responses. It is time to start concentrating on what is good and right in this Industry. Give credit where credit is due. Call up that Webmaster who helped you or others. Send a shout out to someone in this Industry you think is doing good work. There are many people who are incredible that get little or no limelight. Now is the time to shine for them. From the smallest, out of the bedroom Webmaster, to the largest 1000-signups-per-day company, let’s all make an effort to thank and to recognize. If we can do this, if we all do this, our Industry will be better. Then maybe next year we would all get an award. I can see it now “And for outstanding human interaction, high moral values, and exceptional Webmaster work, and by the powers vested in me, I award all of you the YNOTBob Peace Prize.”
